Volkswagen Marco Polo Competition Terms and Conditions
Please read these terms and conditions carefully. By participating in this promotion all participants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. These terms and conditions govern the Volkswagen Marco Polo Competition ("the Competition").
By participating in the Volkswagen Marco Polo Game ("the Game"), you agree to enter the Competition on the terms and conditions below.
Volkswagen of South Africa (Pty) Limited shall not be responsible for any loss or damage arising from the Game, including but not limited to that arising from technical malfunction of any communication network, any late, lost, incomplete, misdirected, incorrectly submitted, delayed, illegible or corrupt Competition entry or for any consequences of participant error.
The Competition commences on the 15th of January 2018 and closes on the 19th of January 2018, the promotion may be terminated or extended at any time at the sole discretion of the Promoter.
The Game will take place across several social media platforms. These will include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Whatsapp.
The Competition is only open to permanent residents and citizens of South Africa who are 18 years or older and possess a valid driving license. The competition is not open to members, partners, directors, employees, agents or consultants of Volkswagen of South Africa (Pty) Limited or its affiliated companies, agencies, service providers, contractors and members of their immediate or extended family.
Only individuals may enter the Competition.
To play Volkswagen Marco Polo, players are required to:
- like the Volkswagen Facebook brand page, follow the Volkswagen Twitter Page and Volkswagen Instagram account.
- register on the Volkswagen Marco Polo Microsite/application, by submitting their email address, contact number and a copy of their valid drivers license.
Next, users are required to like the Volkswagen Facebook brand page, follow the Volkswagen Twitter Page and Volkswagen Instagram account.
All participants agree to the terms and conditions, and privacy statements.
Players will then be able to begin playing by using the Volkswagen Marco Polo Microsite/application.
The Game works by engaging with the relevant Volkswagen media platforms each day and guessing the location of the car, using the hashtag #Marco. Volkswagen will then respond with additional clues using the hashtag #Polo.
Clues will be released at 9am each morning. Additional clues will be released throughout the day and at Volkswagen's discretion.
When players guess the location correctly, Volkswagen will send them a direct message notifying them. They will then receive a code. Players then need to enter that code into the Volkswagen Marco Polo Microsite/Application.
There will be 4 codes in total.
The first 3 Players to enter all the codes correctly, will win a place in the Finale. Here they will compete for the Main Prize.
Daily prizes (consisting of airtime) will be rewarded to top 20 players each day.
Once the day's game has closed, the judges will verify the top 20 players.
Once the full game has been closed, the judges will notify the top 3 players.
The judges' decision is final. The judges will check availability of the finalist to play in the Grand Final in Uitenhage, (along with a friend). Should the winner not be available then the next highest scoring player will be verified and contacted. Winners' results will be published as soon as they become available.
The Marco Polo Grand Final takes place in a secret location, which see the top 3 players and a chosen friend (6 people, therefore 3 teams consisting of 2 people each, in total) competing. Each team will be flown to the secret location (if applicable) and be accommodated at a hotel to be confirmed for two evenings.
They will be armed with a New Polo, 1 full tank of petrol, and a friend, with the aim to play a real life version of Marco Polo whereby they have to take on 3 challenges and track down the car's final location, with the winning team walking away with the Grand Prize.
The Grand Prize will be the new Polo.
Prizes are neither transferable nor negotiable and cannot be deferred or exchanged for cash.
The winner will be requested but will be under no obligation to consent to their names and photographs being used by Volkswagen of South Africa (Pty) Limited for promotional purposes.
Winners may be required to take part in publicity campaigns for broadcasting or publishing purposes. Winners are entitled to decline such requests. Winners who do take part in such activities allow the Promoter and its representatives to photograph and film them for promotional purposes related to the Promotion and the Promoter's relevant products, and to use such material without payment or additional compensation.
The Competition judges' decision shall be final and not subject to any appeal or review. No correspondence will be entered into.
If Volkswagen of South Africa (Pty) Limited is required by any competent authority to alter any aspect of the Competition or to terminate the Competition, Volkswagen of South Africa (Pty) Limited will have the right to alter or terminate the Competition with immediate effect and without prior notice. Volkswagen of South Africa (Pty) Limited, the Competition organisers and sponsors shall not be liable for such alteration or cancellation.
Personal information given by participants will not, without the participants' consent, be used by Volkswagen of South Africa (Pty) Limited for any purpose other than facilitation of the Competition or compliance with applicable legislation.
Volkswagen of South Africa (Pty) Limited reserves the right to disqualify any participant who breaches any of the Competition Terms and Conditions, or engages in any unlawful or dishonest conduct in relation to the Competition. Volkswagen of South Africa (Pty) Limited shall be entitled to recover any loss or damage from the responsible party, arising from such unlawful or dishonest conduct.
